Signs and symptoms of Metatarsalgia
Metatarsalgia is a kind of pain in the area of foot ball. This pain is mainly caused due to interdigital nerve pain and sesamoiditis. The pain occurs at the part of feet exactly behind the toes. The pain is very severe and sharp. It gives aching or burning sensation. The feeling of pain may occur around second, third or the fourth toe. The pain can also occur near big toe.
The metatarsalgia has many symptoms the most common include that the person will feel more pain while walking, standing or running. This will continue to increase if the person stands for longer hours. Person will be relaxed if he takes rest of sit for more time. The intensity of pain is very sharp or shooting occurring in the toes. The toe will get the feeling of numbness or tingling in some cases. The intensity of pain will increases when the person suffering indulges more exercise of flexes his feet. While walking the person will get the feeling as if he is walking on pebbles or on sharp stone. The pain will increase when the patient walk bare footed on the hard surface. In some cases these symptoms occurs all of a sudden when the person increases the amount of exercise or physical work he normally used to indulge in. in most of the cases the problem of metatarsalgia develop over a period of time.
Causes of metatarsalgia
In some cases the first bone is smaller as compared to other bones, all the metatarsalgia bones should be of same of size. In the process of walking, jumping and running weight is transferred to the toes and the pain occurs due imbalance in size. The force that is created is two seventy five percent more then the body weight. The runners face the pain more often as compared to other people. The reason is that the runners indulge in more physical activities as compared to other people. The foot shape of some people is such that they become more prone to the metatarsalgia pain. Other factors include over weight body, shoes with bad fitting, stress level and increase in the age.
