Heel pain in women
Heel pain is a painful feeling at the bottom of the foot especially between the heel and ball of the foot. The problem of heel pain is more common among women as compared to men. The main causes of heel pain are wearing high heels, gaining extra weight that feet are capable of bearing. If women increase walking, standing or more climbing more stairs they usually used to do in normal life. If women wear high heel shoes for long period in a day then the sensitive tissues of the feet can be damaged. The sensitive tissues are called as fascia. The main cause of pain is when fascia is stretched more then it can bear normally. The pain is also caused when the person walk without any shoe in morning. Women with extra weight can develop heel pain especially when they walk or stand for long time. Runners are prone to heel pain when they change their exercise pattern orb they exercise for longer hours as they usually used to in normal routine.
Symptoms and treatment of heel pain
When women feel pain while standing or even while relaxing. Mainly pain occurs in morning hours or after long relaxing period. Women can experience pain even while sleeping because of wrong posture. Taking lot of rest, intake of pre inflammatory medicines, give rest to the feet on ice pack for several times in a day. Give feet a proper cushion as a part of treatment. This treatment is useful for flat feet people.
If the problem of heel pain is not cured even after lot of treatment then the patient can undergo physical therapy. The main objective of physical therapy is to stretch and strengthen the muscles of lower leg to stabilize the heel of feet. These therapies will also give support to bottom of the feet. This will also keep the feet stretched during the time of sleep. Injections are used to cure the heel pain only in case when no other treatment is able to cure the problem. Surgery to cure the heel pain is hardly done.
